Took a relaxing trip to the mountains, and oh, wasn’t it just beautiful and exciting.
If you know me well, you’ll know that ever since I relocated to Canada (4.5 Years ago), I have not left my city. This happened not by my own doing but by the complexities of being a new mom over and over again, finding a job, keeping a job and just yearning for more generally.
So this year came and in the company of friends, we planned and executed the trip in under 2 weeks. It was just a road trip so why are you making is such a big deal? (rolling eyes). Well, it is a big deal because we had 3 families with lots of little children, and if you live in the diaspora, you know this is no easy feat. Aligning several people’s schedules for a getaway doesn’t happen very often, but for this trip, it worked out.
Anyway, just going through those roads got me thinking about the infinite powers of God. Looking at the force of the water at the Maligne Canyon, the beautiful blue waters at Lake Louise, the view at the Athabasca ice glacier, and just everything about that view was so calming and it did something to me that I can’t just express. There really is something about being present in nature that just recharges your energy and helps you reset.
I don’t know for sure if it was the company I was in, but it did help. Going forward, I am certainly observing my energy when I’m around people. Ill recommend you do the same, and not just hang out with people for the sake of it. Observe how you feel around certain people, notice your energy. Are you feeling good? Motivated? How do their presence make you feel? What are your thoughts during and after their company? What’s the vibe of the friendship? You have to constantly evaluate these things.
We ended our mini vacay with a trip to the Calgary zoo. This was my first time ever at a zoo, and as exciting as that was for the kids, it was it was more exciting for me, especially getting to see lots of animals at such a close range.
With all that’s going on in the world right now, its really important to do things that give you joy Afterall, no one is promised tomorrow. There’s no perfect way to live or exist, just do it in a way that gladdens your heart.
I hope you have a nice day wherever you are.
